Science, technology, engineering, and math or STEM is at the center of everything we do. During recent years, it’s garnered a lot of attention in schools, with students not only wanting to work for technologically advanced companies, but wanting to be innovators themselves. Many students are given resources, which grants them the opportunity to learn about, and even build their own quad-copter and drone models. Unfortunately, for students living in under-served areas, this not the case. They are not given the same opportunities. This is not because there is a lack of enthusiasm in STEM, but because there is a lack of funding. This is where the problem lies. A problem that typically affects minority students.
Goals/Solution
The goal for project tech for all is to raise $20,000 through donations to give to under-served schools and after school aviation robotics based and STEM programs. This will help the students to learn about, build, and pilot model drones. PTFA is hoping to help students reach their full potential, and get them going in the right direction towards a career in STEM.
Partnering Organizations
National Society of Black Engineers (NSBE) and Huntsville City Schools
Project Tech For All (PTFA) is a not-for-profit Science Technology Engineering Math (STEM) company devoted to helping the underrepresented learn to build and utilize unmanned vehicle systems and other robotic technologies.
PTFA teaches students basic STEM solutions, preparing them for jobs in science and technology when they graduate.
PTFA allows students to be hands-on and actually see what components are used to build unmanned systems(us). By learning what each component is utilized for, it allows students to have a better understanding of component subcomponent structures. This concept which is the basic building block for all engineering efforts will move them one step ahead of the competition when applying for careers in STEM or maybe even becoming inventors themselves.
PTFA promotes fun, learning, and insight into the world of STEM. Unmanned Systems is just the beginning as our organization begins to evolve we aim to expand into other areas of technology. Today’s Tech Savvy students are the future innovators and leaders of tomorrow. As such they will be the individuals introducing the world to new innovative technologies that will be for both commercial and government use. On the commercial side products and devices will be produced that will be geared towards making life better on a socioeconomic level. However these same commercial technologies will possibly also be able to contribute on the military side to the sustainment of global peace and U.S. National Security. It is our goal to help with and encourage the student to develop and prototype both physical and virtual models of products that they envision. Our organization will help the students evaluate them for feasibility or military utility and viability of each particular technology, process or concept.
